Message sorry I meant crossed wires in MY CASE, not in yours. Yours sounds like PTU to me, but then I see things with PTU-colored glasses right now.

The ECU? Maybe, but just guessing it is pretty well protected. it sends out low current, the PTU high current, damages it sometimes with wear from heat, etc. They didn't factory-recall the ECU, (did they?) They did the PTU, though. Did yours get the recall? Check via the dealer, takes a couple days for them to check with Japan, and you'll know.

Test the ECU for "sanity", turn key on, rotate the slotted screw CW fully, wait a few seconds, then CCW fully. You should start seeing flash codes. That's just diagnostic mode, so it tells you nothing about the running ability of the ECU, but at least it isn't blown up.


:Jumping the relays should not harm anything. Jumping means connecting #3 pin to #5 pin, that's what you connected, (right?). You tested the blown relays using 12 volts across 1, 2 (right?) and you got no "click" so that's how you knew the relays were not working (right?).
:When you jump the relay (pin 3 to pin 5) all you do is what the relay used to do.
:If you have a meter, check the volts to body-ground on pins 1,2 of the ignition relay socket, let me know, please, as I'm debugging a similar situation in my own TT.
:I have ordered a new PTU and have it onhand. If mine's ok, I'll still swap and relocate just to have a more reliable car, even if it's not the problem.
:My situation started when an anti-theft unit went in and cut two orange wires leading into the fusebox under hood. I now don't know if he crossed them up or not, but I'm getting +12 volts to ground at BOTH 1,2 in the ign relay socket, with the key on OR off!!! Nothing can flow across that so it might be crossed wires in your case.
:I'm not suggesting what's wrong with yours, specially since I don't know my own, but the PTU is a known failure in these beasts, and the harnesses to it aren't any bargain either.

::So under the hood in the Fuse box, theres the EGI and IGN two green 12Volt Relays. Both of mine blew at once how I dont know. Then I jumped the EGI and IGn relays out just to see if it would start and it did, but soon after died out. So I went and bought two relays same but not sure if they were 12Volts, it didn't specify on the box or relay. But now the car won't start could this be because these relays are no good? Should I order the Factory 12Volt Green Relays. Or from me jumping the relays out cause my PTU to go? Any help would be appreciated thanks!
